As the Livingston Parish Seat the Town of Livingston is centrally located within the parish. We are home to most of the parishes governmental offices which makes it critical that the mission of our Police Department remain focused on the people. Honoring the community, we live in and serving the people we are surrounded by is crucial.
Referencing the community, we live in and serve as a large puzzle puts in perspective the need to include all the pieces to the puzzle. The puzzle must include every piece to be whole. The sizes, shapes, colors and placement in the puzzle are all so very different however they are very much needed to complete the puzzle. As a community if we try to understand the reason and need for individual puzzle pieces our daily interaction with them can be much more effective. It is our goal as a department to learn all we can from all the individual puzzle pieces we encounter daily . This allows us to better understand what the result should and could look like.
During the month of April, we will be bringing awareness to Autism. An exceptionality and puzzle piece like non other. We will celebrate and bring awareness to this exceptionality, learn from those with in the Autism spectrum as well as provide financial support with your help to our beneficiary for this year.
LAUNCH, a 501c3 nonprofit organization in Livingston parish is a therapy center that’s goal is to “Help Exceptional Children lead Extraordinary Lives”.
Our officers will be wearing custom Autism Awareness badges throughout the month as well as looking to have you support this mission by sponsoring a puzzle piece to be placed on their police unit. Local businesses are also encouraged to inquire about sponsorship options.
LAUNCH empowers children with developmental diagnoses and their families by providing speech, occupational, and physical therapies and whatever else they need beyond what is covered by insurance and Medicaid. This may include additional therapies, social groups, equipment, coordination of service providers and much more.
We chose to partner with LAUNCH as our beneficiary to keep the money local while having the biggest impact possible on our local community and its next generation.
In an effort to support Breast Cancer awareness in the month October the Livingston Police Department will begin an annual endeavor to help raise money for Breast cancer awareness, research as well as honoring those who have won and lost their battle with Breast cancer. During the month of October our officers will be wearing pink badges on their uniform to show our support in this mission. To help do our part with the cost of research, awareness and treatment for breast cancer we are also asking you to support this cause with a $25 donation. This donation will get your honoree a pink vinyl ribbon that will display the honorees last name for all to see. Our officers will be displaying these pink ribbons in the rear window of their police units throughout October recognizing your loved ones. In addition to the ribbon being placed on one our officers’ units your honorees name will be placed on a plaque to be displayed inside the town hall for all to see. This plaque will be hung at the end of the month during a presentation/ reception at the town hall for you and/or your honoree to meet the officer who has been displaying the ribbons throughout the month. During this reception we will present a check to the Susan G Komen foundation for the amount we raise. We will also have the pleasure of hearing from those who have been affected by Breast Cancer. Please join us in supporting this cause as we try to provide some awareness as well as honor those who have fought this battle. In our every day lives as police the Thin Blue Line is defined as the line which keeps society from descending into chaos. It is our mission to back the Thin Pink Line supporting all efforts in the fight against breast cancer. Sponsorship and support inquiries should be sent to Lt. Herring Bherring@ townoflivingston.com or Officer Wadsworth cwadsworth@ townoflivingston.com . You may also contact the police department at 225-686-7153. Sponsorships and donations will conclude the last week of September allowing us ample time to have ribbons produced and installed.
