Chief Randy Dufrene, a lifelong resident of the Town of Livingston began protecting the residents as a part time officer in 1985 before being hired full time in January 1986. A few months later Chief Dufrene graduated from the LSU Police Academy. This led to “Officer” Dufrene patrolling the town streets for 18 years until being elected Chief of Police in September 2004.
In 2005 Chief Dufrene graduated from the inaugural class of Law Enforcement Executive Management Institute (LEEMI). Chief Dufrene is an active member of the Louisiana Chiefs of Police Association and International Association of Chiefs of Police. Chief Dufrene holds title as Past President of Southeast Association of Chiefs of Police and active member of Livingston Parish Chiefs of Police Association.
Chief Dufrene has spent his life protecting the citizens of Livingston, the people he loves and respects, for the better part of 38 years. During his tenure he has seen policing change, some ways good and some ways not so good, but always has the safety of his guy’s and citizens his top priority. Chief Dufrene works hard to grow the police department and training opportunities for his officers. Knowledge and skills are the keys to ensure safety for our officers and citizens.
Chief Dufrene spent his childhood in Holden, graduated as a Holden Rocket in 1979. Shortly after graduating he moved to Livingston and in 1987 married Vicki Sparks and they welcomed one son, Randy Dufrene Jr (RJ). The next time you see Chief Dufrene riding his big orange tractor and lawnmower around town, stop him, he might just cut your grass.

Officer Nick Lecroy has been a vital part of the Livingston Police Department for over 14 years. As a Livingston Native and Doyle graduate Officer Lecroy is as local as it gets. It could be said, " When you serve the town you grew up in and raising your own children in it becomes a little more personal". Officer Lecroy started his career in Livingston on the day shift but over the last 7-8 years has grown to love the night shift and the work it brings. Officer Lecroy is our Leason with the District Attorney's Office and Louisiana State Crime Lab, he also over sees all evidence. When Officer Lecroy is not crime fighting on the streets of Livingston, he enjoys spending time with his wife and boys as well as cheering on those LSU Tigers.
